The movie Hidden Figures is a movie about the lives of three black women working for NASA. Movies like this are essential not only for women's empowerment but also for black women's empowerment. Black women continue to work hard for what they do but never get the recognition or have to work 10x harder to say they can stand in the same room as other men and women. This movie is highly important, and I screenshotted my favourite scene from the film because it speaks the truth, due to the line "I work like a dog all day and night, living off of a coffee pot none of you want to touch" this one line speaks volumes for a lot of black women as we continue to struggle in the spaces we are in because although we get held to a somewhat "high standard" we are also outcasted and often dismissed at the same time.

Although Hidden Figures has been out for years, this is my first time watching it completely. I knew of Katherine Johnson's story because of an engineering group I was in at my high school, but seeing the things she went through and what she did to get in every room she needed was an eye-opener. This was also my first virtual movie night and I would suggest making closed captions available.

I really liked this movie. It showed that although Katherine Johnson was more than qualified to do her job she was not treated as an equal due to the color of her skin. Ms. Johnson was a brilliant woman who helped cultivate many processes at NASA. Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson were also brilliant and beautiful African American women that are highlighted in the film and their contributions to NASA.

I am grateful and blessed to be able to donate back to my community. I donated 2 packs of wipes, 1 bottle of body oil, 3 bottles of deodorant, 1 bottle of detergent, and 3 tubes of toothpaste. I am glad that these items will be used by those who will be thankful to have them.

I feel this was a great experience to not only know about our history but how black African Women helped develop the build of NASA. I am always a huge fan of Taraji P. Henson in anything she plays but this movie surely stood out to me in the best way. It was a great movie!

The online hidden figures movie night was a great experience because I got to watch a movie about a time were African American women changed the world. While watching the movie I got details on how African Americans more specifically women were treated during the 60's. I also saw how brilliant young minds individually solved and fixed problems that helped better our world to this day.
