I am extremely grateful to have participated in the 2019 NAFSA International Education Advocacy Day! During this day, me and 200 other NAFSA members from 42 states traveled to Capitol Hill to speak with our Congressional representatives and advocate for International Education. During our time on Capitol Hill, the Georgia advocacy group met with the staffers from Senator Isakson, Senator Purdue, and Representative John Lewis’s offices to advocate for the Simon Paul Study Abroad Program Act and support for International scholars who come to the U.S. for post-secondary studies.

This experience was really eye-opening because I was able to stand for the unheard voices and it really meant a lot to me to advocate for international students and study abroad programs especially considering that I was able to study abroad and my school’s huge International scholars percentage. Huge thanks to the Center for Leadership and Service for giving me this opportunity! I am so excited to continue to support this cause! #NafsaAD #InternationalEducation #SimonPaulAct #WelcomeToSucceed #GlobalLearning
