I helped the homeless by serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the day. It help me realize I need to be grateful of all my blessings. It also gave made me feel better by just helping others and having a good conversation. They actually gave me knowledge and just have to avoid certain obstacles so I won't end up in the same position.
This weekend I have worked with Dr. Beckford this weekend and this showed me a lot of different things I need to be grateful for and I should want to help our communities. This a place where we live and it is not common for an African American to help the community. I learned that I should not wait until the last minute to do any of my work because it only stresses you out. I also find out that I like to working with children more than I thought and learned that you have to learn how to let go when playing with kids.
I helped to organize documents and papers in the honors center.
With the help of fellow executive officers of the Ernest E. Just Science Club, I planned and executed the Walk for Autism Awareness. Dr. Macpherson, a pediatrician from the Pediatric Clinic of Orangeburg attended the event and shed insight on autism to start the walk. We walked the loop around campus and took pictures to end the event.
I was given the opportunity to complete hours of community service at the honors center. I shredded files and disposed of the bags. I am thankful for this opportunity because of my lack of hours and difficult semester. Thank you once again for this time.
Met with my mentee and discussed how she will be organizing her plans to prepare for finals week. We also talked about study habits and time management.
I cleaned and organized the Dr. Kalapathy's laboratory. I also organized the Department of Chemistry's Administrator's office and supply room.
I assisted Dr. Ratliff with task and finishing up this semesters duties. I truly appreciate Dr. Ratliff for allowing me to assist her in her office for my last five hours of service. I am also thankful for Mrs. Sabrina Green for allowing me to use this opportunity. It was an easygoing experience, and I am glad I could be a help.
Community service in the library this semester was fun. I was able to meet new people and I was also reminded that I can always come to the library to get my work done.
Today I got the chance to clean up Claflin's campus and interact with some of my D9 peers along with some students. This gave me an opportunity to do something bigger than myself and my community. A list of names has been sent to Dr.Doctor so he can say who all was there.
The international alumni convention was a great experience. I had a wonderful time speaking with the alumni and making connections. I even met one of my classmate's grandmothers! All in all, this was a great experience and I look forward to going again!
This time it was a little different. Some people were getting hostile because we could not serve them seconds due to too many people being there and they did not like that. However, they did calm down and apologize. The new people was just quiet and a lil rude.
Working the spring game at state was a great experience. I was able to sell towels for the Orangeburg Alumni chapter. To be able to walk around and not only sell the towels but network and make connections with people at State was a great experience. I would definitely work another game for community service at state again.
I had fun volunteering at the SC State Football game. We sold towels for the Orangeburg SC State Alumni Chapter, in order to raise funds for a scholarship they're starting. It felt good to do some community service that I know will positively impact a deserving student at our daughter school.
