I know that Easter is always a fun holiday for the kids. From Easter egg hunts, Easter speeches, to the Easter bunny. With Covid-19’s impact on society, many kids have not been able to participate in these anxiously awaited activities. This year, however things are slowly getting back to normal & It feels good to be apart of some kids Easter egg, Easter basket, or whichever way my candy donation may be used! Thank you.
Toys are essential for children as they grow up as it allows them to manipulate, explore and experiment. Being able to donate a toy to a child in need is something that I was more than happy to do as I know it'll provide them with enrichment and joy!
Today I donated one toy. For the Summer toy drive, to give to a child who loves baseball.
I ordered 3 different toys off of Amazon. From there, I had these toys be shipped to the university, due to me not being on campus at the moment.
Share snuggles was an charity event where we donated up to 3 stuffed animals. The animals were sent off to children in Orangeburg county schools, and I was happy ti be able to give back.
The fireside chat with President Warmack and Congressman Ro Khanna was very insightful. I enjoyed the discussion of African American students who have the skills for the computer science field but aren't getting the opportunities.
The Phi Beta Sigma toy drive was a fundraiser where we donated stuffed animals that would be sent off to local kids in the area. The toys were sent off to the kids of Sheridan elementary.
Ro Khanna is a really inspirational figure. I really liked his vison and the impact that he is trying to bring into our communites to enhace the exposure, connections and opportunities in a HBCU like Claflin University where leaders thrive. We need more people like him.
I saw an email about community service and the opportunity to get more. So I signed up to help clean up after the banquet.
I really liked this community service and it was a good idea to give toys to the elementary school. I really wish that I could see the reaction of those kids faces. Mr. Kelly was also nice and cooperative.
For this community service project, I decided to donate to children again. What more do kids love then toys?I donated one summer toy to give back, through amazon as well. in hopes making a kid happy
Contributing to the Toy Drive sponsored by the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, allows me to get connected to our community and the lives of young children. I could not pass up this opportunity because with my aspirations of being a teacher, donating toys could help with their physical development as well as their cognitive development.
This event was very informational. I enjoyed hearing perspective about the tech industry. When we thing of under representation I don’t think we completely understand how broad it is. Diversity and inclusion seem to be at the forefront of all company goals recently and im glad to see them taking an active role. I also turned this experience into a newspaper article.
This was a very nice event. I was able to hear the different perspectives of Congressman Ro Khanna and our very own President Warmack.
Watching Congressman Ro Khanna and Dr. Warmack have important conversations like student debt forgiveness, climate change, and diversity in the tech industry has opened my eyes to these different topics that were being discussed. Congressman Ro Khanna was an enjoyable speaker that seems to have the best interest of the people in mind and I appreciate it. I will definitely be reading his book this summer.
